Work

I am a pharmacist, educator, and healthcare leader with over 20 years of experience in advancing pharmacy practice and public health. As Director of ZU Ljekarna Bjelovar and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Osijek, I bridge pharmacy operations, education, and patient care. Through my role in EPhEU, I also advocate for the profession at the European leve

Throughout my career, I’ve had the honor of presenting at leading international and national conferences, sharing research and insights on pharmacy practice, public health, and patient care.
From the FIP World Congresses in Seville, Cape Town, Abu Dhabi, and Glasgow, to specialized meetings like the Pharmacy Practice Research SIG and summer research programs, I have spoken on a wide range of topics — from pharmacist-led public health screenings to improving patient adherence and the evolving role of pharmacists during the COVID-19 pandemic.

These experiences have allowed me to contribute to global discussions, collaborate with healthcare leaders, and advocate for the vital role of pharmacy in advancing community health.

Scientific research is a cornerstone of my professional journey.
Over the years, I have authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, focusing on pharmaceutical care, public health, patient-centered services, and innovations in pharmacy practice.
My work explores key topics such as medication adherence, pharmacist-led public health initiatives, vaccination programs, probiotics in elderly care, and the evolving role of pharmacists in modern healthcare systems.
Through research collaborations across Europe and contributions to journals like Healthcare, Pharmacy, and Frontiers in Pharmacology, I aim to translate scientific insights into practical improvements that benefit both patients and the pharmacy profession.

Publishing and sharing knowledge remains central to my mission of advancing evidence-based, patient-focused healthcare.

Alongside my work in pharmacy practice and education, I am actively involved in strengthening the scientific and professional standards of pharmacy. As a member of editorial boards for journals like InPharma and Adiva, I support the development and promotion of evidence-based pharmaceutical knowledge. Through my participation in national and international committees — including the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and the European Commission Study on the Profession of Pharmacists — I work to advance pharmacy practices, healthcare policies, and patient-centered care.

Collaborating on guidelines, educational programs, and professional development initiatives remains a vital part of my commitment to the future of healthcare.

Being part of professional networks has always been an important part of my journey. Through my role as President of the Employed Community Pharmacists in Europe (EPhEU), I’ve had the opportunity to advocate for community pharmacists and contribute to shaping healthcare policies across Europe. In Croatia, I am proud to be an active member of the Croatian Pharmaceutical Society and the Croatian Chamber of Pharmacists, where I work to support the growth and advancement of pharmacy practice nationally. Internationally, I collaborate with peers through the Polish Pharmacy Practice Research Network, sharing knowledge and research to enhance patient care. I also engage in professional development initiatives with the Progressus Association Zagreb, staying connected to programs that strengthen healthcare education and practice.

These memberships allow me to continuously learn, exchange ideas, and drive positive change within the pharmacy profession both locally and globally.

Education and Training

My professional foundation is built on a strong academic background and a lifelong commitment to learning. After earning my Master of Pharmacy and completing a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, I specialized further in Phytopharmacy and Dietotherapy to deepen my expertise in patient-centered care. Driven by a passion for education, I also pursued training in pedagogy and healthcare management, equipping myself to lead both in academia and in healthcare innovation. Continual learning remains essential to my work, allowing me to bridge scientific research, healthcare practice, and teaching with confidence and care.

Sharing knowledge and empowering fellow pharmacists has always been at the heart of my work. Through developing and delivering specialized e-learning courses, I’ve had the opportunity to help pharmacists deepen their expertise in areas like probiotics, asthma management, nutrition, and patient counseling. By blending scientific research with practical, real-world insights, I aim to create accessible and impactful learning experiences that support the continuous professional growth of healthcare teams. Building these courses has allowed me to contribute to a future where education drives better patient care and a stronger pharmacy profession.
